Ignifix is a marketing agency founded in 2013 that helps their clients grow with effective marketing strategies and branding solutions.

We spoke with Christopher Karsyn, founder of Ignifix, about why they switched from Monday to Bonsai to centralize their clients, projects and financials in one place.

Hitting limits with Monday

When Ignifix grew from 30 to 50 employees last year, they had been using Monday for 3 years to manage their projects, Harvest to track time and QuickBooks Online for billing. All financial reporting was done manually by their Head of Operations in spreadsheets.

As they started to take on more projects, it became difficult to get a clear view on revenue without having to spend hours piecing together information from varying sources.

Exploring agency-specific platform

Whether you're dealing with a simple task or managing a complex project, having an efficient project management tool is crucial. On our recent blog, we provided detailed information about mobile app project management, which could be highly beneficial for digital teams. We'll compare some popular tools including Monday.com and Bonsai, aiming to help you make the best choice for your needs.
In your workflow, you may have wondered about the difference between billable hours versus actual hours and how it affects your tasks on a Monday-to-Bonsai basis.
As we transition our workflows from Monday to Bonsai, it's important to efficiently manage time and allocate resources. Thankfully, Bonsai provides features for time and expense tracking to ensure project profitability. With its detailed time log and expense record capabilities, Bonsai streamlines our processes and maximizes productivity.

That’s when Christopher and his team started to look for more agency-specific platforms. Their goal was to consolidate as many tools as possible and streamline their operations

It quickly became clear to them that an agency-specific platform would free up their teams a lot of time. Project Managers would track all their client and project related information in just one spot and the Head of Operations would have instant access to financial and utilization data.

On top of that, paying for so many subscriptions was starting to add up.

They spent some time benchmarking different solutions, including Teamwork, Productive and Bonsai.

Choosing Bonsai

Ultimately, they chose Bonsai because it was the most comprehensive solution. According to Christopher, it was the only solution that included a client management suit and advanced client billing. They could replace Monday, Harvest, fully integrate billing with QuickBooks and their spreadsheets.

Onboarding the company on Bonsai

One of the hardest parts about changing software is the migration effort it takes. To get their teams up and running on Bonsai as fast possible, we worked with Ignifix to migrate their data as swiftly as possible.

Within 10 days, the whole company was ready to start working in Bonsai.

Ignifix now manages their entire client lifecycle on Bonsai. According to Christopher, they have much better control over financial reporting, project management and overall team management.

With a unified client experience, everyone on the team saves time finding what they need to get their job done. Christopher also shared that they save over $1200/month on subscriptions ever since moving over to Bonsai.
